Message from our Selectboard Chair

Thank you to all who attended Town Meeting this year. We had power and it was not snowing this time! The Selectboard will be seeking ways to make Town Meeting 2019 better and more accommodating especially to those who work. We will be discussing the possibility of holding Town Meeting next year in the evening on the first Monday in March. More to come on this later in the year. The Selectboard has voted to continue meeting on the same schedule and time as last year… 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. at Town Hall. Agendas are posted on our website – www.brooklinevt.com and on the community boards located outside of Town Hall, at Whitney Hill Intersection, and at the triangle as you enter town by Hill Road. The Selectboard is pleased that all five members of last years board will continue to work together this year as well. There are some vacant appointed positions that we would love to see filled. If you are interested in any position please contact me by phone or email, or stop in and leave your information with Guy Tanza our Town Clerk. We can then add you to our agenda. The following positions are currently vacant or in need of additional members: First and Second Constable positions, NewBrook Elementary School Director, Road Commissioner, SEVCA Representative, Historical Society Committee, and the Brookline Meeting House Committee. If you are interested in getting involved in providing some community service please don’t hesitate to give us a call. June 2 has been designated State wide as Neighbor Day in Vermont. We’d love to have a few hours of activities in town on that Saturday: Soft ball game, plant swap, cookie swap, open house at the Round Schoolhouse, open house at the Brookline Meeting House, Pot Luck Supper are but a few of the ideas that can be planned if there is interest and help. Please, won’t you consider joining us this year? Lastly, a quick reminder to all DOG owners: any resident who has not registered their dog by May 30, 2018 will be fined $50 in addition to any and all other fees for EACH unlicensed dog. A municipal summons will also be sent requiring you to appear in court in Brattleboro. Please contact Guy Tanza and get your dog licensed before the end of this month. By law, all dogs are required to wear a collar with their license attached. It also helps us to return your pet quickly if he/she has run away.
